Anyhow, back to the pen pal. (I do not want to list a name until I check with her mom.. :) Seasan was very excited to receive her letter a few weeks back and four cool try-its from North Dakota Wildlife. Here are two of them:
We can't wait to do these this summer when she goes to Michigan. (My dad will take her on all the outdoor activities.)
We just sent her pen pal a letter with a few try-its we got in and should be sending another letter soon with more. I encourage you to try out this pen pal activity because the girls think this is so much fun. (Especially since they are on opposite ends of the USA!)
Hi Seasan's mom~ I'm a grandma. My two granddaughters are 8 and 6, and they love doing Scout stuff with me. The oldest is bridging to Juniors, and she has a slightly hoardish personality. It causes her to save trash in case she can make something or just because it is interesting. She is apalled that the try-its are disappearing. She is not only quickly earning all the new ones, she has made a plan to earn all the old ones she hasn't yet earned, plus any Council's Owns she can find. Little sister is bridging to Brownies, and she has caught the bug. She turns 7 this month, and as soon as she has her birthday, she is considering herself a bridging Brownie with the right to earn Try-Its, too. Unfortunately her Daisy leader, though we are all grateful there is one, is not exactly enthusiastic about doing anything at all. As soon as she shuts down for the year, I'm registering Little Sister as a Juliette Brownie with the council, and keep good records of everything she does. We have through June to earn any try-its they desire, and both their mom and I are willing helpers. When I came upon your blog, I sensed a kindred supporter-type in the area of your child's scouting~ one who likes to do research, or at least will. Please tell Seasan she has company on her try-it adventure.
ReplyDeleteOh my! I just realized the post I'm replying to is a year old! Well, if you're still doing this adventure, let us know and we'll keep you company. Perhaps the girls would like to send Seasan a message now and then.~Lee
